Kacey Musgraves advices to “Follow Your Arrow”, but the CMA think Strait, as King George rules as CMA Entertainer and husband and wife Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are “joint” Vocalist winners with 4 straight (pointless? lol) wins!  

Kelly Clarkson, Sheryl Crow, Jake Owen, Kip Moore, Brett Eldredge, Lee Brice, 
Eli Young Band, Kellie Pickler, Lucy Haleand Robin Roberts had been tapped to present trophies at the 47th Annual CMA Awards held on Wednesday night Nov 6, 2013.

Nashville stars Connie Britton and Charles Esten, plus Willie & Korie Roberts and Jase & Missy Roberts of Duck Dynasty fame also handed out hardware.

CMA Awards 2013 Report

In Brief:
"The 47th Annual CMA Awards" was hosted for the sixth consecutive year on Wednesday Nov 6, 2013 by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the ABC TV Network.

  • Ratings for the 47th Annual CMA Awards were up 21 percent over last year's broadcast, delivering the show's best ratings in four years. 16.6 million viewers tuned in  giving ABC a big ratings win over the other networks. Great American Country has plans to re-air the show in its entirety Saturday, Nov 16, 2013.
  • George Strait secured victory in the coveted Entertainer of the Year category, which he last won in 1990. Strait tied Alabama and Alan Jackson with three career victories; Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney continue to lead the totals with four each.
  • Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton made history as the first married couple to win top honors as CMA’s Female and Male Vocalists of the Year four years in a row.  With her victory, Lambert ties Reba McEntire for consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year wins with four. Shelton’s fourth Male Vocalist of the Year Award, putting him one step behind Vince Gill and Strait, who lead in this category with five Awards each.
  • Florida Georgia Line had a good night. The first-time nominees won CMA Awards for Single of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year.
  • Kacey Musgraves who had 6 nominations, won her first with the New Artist of the Year trophy.
  • None of the Song of the Year nominees had won previously in this category. In accepting their Award for writing the Lee Brice hit “I Drive Your Truck,” Jimmy Yeary spoke for his co-writers Jessi Alexander and Connie Harrington in saying, “Jared Monti gave his life in Afghanistan for his battalion, and his dad today still drives his truck.
  • Little Big Town held onto the Vocal Group of the Year award for a second year.
  • Kenny Rogers, inducted this year into the Country Music Hall of Fame, was honored receiving the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Taylor Swift wasn't surprised by the Pinnacle Award, which had been pre-announced, she was clearly emotional while accepting it. It marked only the second time this award has even been given out; its first recipient, Garth Brooks, won in 2005.
  • Mac McAnally was named Musician of the Year in a presentation held before the broadcast. This was his sixth consecutive win in that category, tying the record set previously by Mark O’Connor.
  • Earlier in the day, winners in two CMA Award categories were announced live on “Good Morning America” from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the site of of the 2013 CMA Awards. The news was delivered by GMA anchor Robin Roberts with Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban winning Musical Event and Music Video of the Year (" directed by Shane Drake) for “Highway Don’t Care.”

2013 CMA International Awards
Taylor Swift, Jeff Walker and BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris were recognized at 2013 CMA International Awards Reception.

International and domestic industry professionals alike gathered at the Country Music Hall of Fame for the annual CMA International Media Reception and the presentation of the 2013 CMA International Awards.
Jeff Walker was the recipient of the Jo Walker-Meador Award which recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual or company in advocating and supporting Country Music’s marketing development in territories outside the United States.




Bob Harris received the CMA International Country Broadcaster Award for a second time having won it back in 2004. 

The award recognizes outstanding achievement by radio broadcasters outside the United States who have made important contributions for the development of Country Music in their country. Last year he won the Wesley Rose International Media Achievement Award which was presented to him on the red carpet by Little Big Town. That award was established to recognize outstanding achievements in the media as they relate to Country Music outside of the United States. 


The International Artist Award for 2013 was presented to Taylor Swift for the second time – she first received the award in 2009. 
The Award is presented for outstanding achievement by a U.S.-based artist who contributes to the awareness and development of Country Music outside the United States.

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 11,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was formed in 1958 as the first trade organization to promote an individual genre of music. The first "CMA Awards Banquet and Show" was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards was broadcast on NBC television for the first time – making it the longest-running annual music awards program on network television. The Awards aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television Network from 1972 through 2005. The CMA Awards moved to ABC in 2006, where it will remain through 2021.
