41st American Music Awards – Country Winners & Fashion

Taylor Swift's fans have done it again, voting her the American Music Awards Artist of the Year for a third time on Sunday Night (Nov 24th) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles shown on ABC-TV.
The 41st American Music Awards nominees were announced on October 23 by will.i.am. and Kelly Clarkson. The host this year was Cuban artist Pitbull. Swift won the night's top honour, giving her a leading four trophies as fans celebrated the women of pop music.
The 23-year-old singer was also won Country Album of the Year for RED (presented by Kristen Bell and Chris Daughtry) and was named Favorite Female Country Artist and Pop/Rock Artist. Taylor did not perform, but she danced to stars like Kendrick Lamar and Luke Bryan.
Miley Cyrus closed the performances with the assistance of a giant lip-syncing CGI kitty on her song "Wrecking Ball."

"I'm really out of breath," Swift said after taking the stage in a sequined mini-dress. "I was really going hard with the 'Wrecking Ball' thing."
Thanking the fans who voted she said: 'My lucky number is 13, and so far you guys have made 2013 the most magical year of my life so far,' gushing as she accepted the Artist of the Year award. 'I cannot thank you enough. This validates that if you voted for this that we are heartbroken the same way and we fall in love the same way and we're happy the same way. And the fact that you would listen to my music means ... we're pretty much in it together, aren't we?'
That pop-crossover format sure helped Taylors at these awards with her album RED earning attention in numerous formats beyond her country base - “I want to thank country radio and also pop radio and also hot AC and AC radio,” Swift said during one of her acceptance speeches. “The fact that all of those different genres of music played songs off my album makes me not have to think about genre when I’m writing songs.” This brings her career total to 14 AMAs. Her multiformat embrace was solidified by the off-camera victory for favorite pop/rock female.

Taylor was one of the big winners in the AMA fashion stakes and among the presenters joining Lady Antebellum, Hayden Panettiere, 2 Chainz, Emma Roberts, the cast of Shark Tank and a "mix of actors, musicians, athletes and reality stars" .
Jake Owen was also spotted walking the red carpet, where he was one of the live stream co-hosts.
Taylor stepped on to the stage to announce the winner of the Favourite Pop/Rock Male Artist award at the AMAs. Looking stunning in her gold mini dress some will have thought it looked familiar: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore the mini-dress during a photoshoot with Taylor's former boyfriend Harry Styles and his One Direction band mates - Photo
One Direction (photo) who appeared (pre-recorded) on the UK’s X Factor won Favorite Album – Pop/Rock for “Take Me Home’” and they beat out Taylor’s ‘Red’ for the prize.

Florida Georgia Line impacted the 2013 American Music Awards in a huge way, as they performed >> ‘Cruise’ with rapper Nelly. FGL’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard both wore dark gray and the duo worked both sides of the stage until Nelly showed up in sunglasses and chains. Soon, the stars switched gears from ‘Cruise’ and took off in a different direction, performing Nelly’s ‘Must Be the Money’.

After breaking the record for the most chart-topping weeks it came no surprise that ‘Cruise’ snatched up the title for Single of the Year at the 2013 AMAs.
They beat out competition from Macklemore & Lewis’ ‘Thrift Shop’ and Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines.’
They did lose out to 20-year-old singer Ariana Grande who took home “New Artist Of The Year “and performed her song “Tattooed Heart” off her album YOURS TRULY.
Hubbard said genuinely, “I want to thank the Lord for letting us be here, for blessing us so much,” and Kelley made sure to give a shoutout to their label and management. He also thanked the fans, saying, “We want to say thank you to our fans. This is an amazing time in the music industry, in any genre”.  >> Watch their Backstage interview

Luke Bryan won the 2013 American Music Award for Favorite Male Country Artist, wearing a fitted black button-down shirt and even tighter jeans the 37-year-old performed his hit song >> “That’s My Kind of Night”.’

American Music Awards Fashion
Taylor Swift (Julien Macdonald) , Hillary Scott and
Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus (Versus Versace)

Taylor Swift played the ultimate golden girl looking gorgeous and sexy on the red carpet of the 2013 American Music Awards, hosted on Sunday evening at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.
The five-time nominee gave us the Midas touch in a Julien Macdonald Fall 2013 mini-dress. The itty-bitty party frock featured a nude-illusion lining at the bodice that was added post-runway for extra raciness. The gold hue worked perfectly against her skin tone and the bandeau showed off her toned shoulders to full effect. With those lovely long stems Taylor can get away with the very mini length.

Macdonald, the Welsh designer and recent Strictly Come Dancing contestant, is having a bit of a moment with his recent collections with a whole galaxy of starlets out and about in his dramatic creations recently including X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger. For fans staying high street rather than high fashion but with sequin bandeaus try Elise Ryan's dress at Asos or try Myleene's spangly number at Littlewoods. Keep the hair messy and simple and jewellery to a minimum to avoid a disco ball look.
Taylor’s leggy, metallic moment was only magnified with shiny, matching Jimmy Choo ‘Madison’ strappy sandals. They feature mirrored gold leather, super strappy front, small platform and 120mm heel (similar sandals, the Myth, at Saks Fifth Avenue) – Fashion Image
Taylor’s hair with messy, bedhead waves which was reminiscent of a late 80s “shag” cut with an overall effect reminiscent of Barbarella or a young Brigitte Bardot.
She completed her AMA look with a smokey eye and nude lip, adding a smoldering note to the full-on sizzle.

Luke & Caroline Bryan (L) Florida Georgia Line and Jake Owen (R)
American Music Awards 2013 red carpet

Florida Georgia Line  - The big winners looked polished and put-together although Tyler Hubbard sported huge chains in Nelly but not country fashion (unless he shops with Brantley Gilbert)

Luke Bryan – He was with his lovely wife, Caroline looking positively glamorous. Luke wore a fitted black suit his wife stunned in a long black and silver dress that showed off her perfectly toned arms – Image

Lady Antebellum – The AMA Country band nominees and presenters perfectly coordinated. New mummy Hillary Scott donned a form-fitting black dress and wore emerald-colored earrings. Rivers Run: Hillary joined Kelly Osbourne and Joan Rivers on the set of E!'s Fashion Police to talk about who wore who on the American Music Awards - Image
Lady A’s Dave Haywood pulled off black on black … on black, with a black shirt, tie and suit coat. Charles Kelley looked more relaxed and casual in a black blazer and posed with wife Cassie.- Image - Image

Jake Owen – The live stream AMA co-host charmed and looked sharp with great hair and enough scruff to rock sexy - Image

Miley Cyrus – Went with a remarkably reserved look on the red carpet simply parading out a Versus Versace white pantsuit. The jacket was plunging with a flicker of punk edge thanks to the oversized gold safety pin accents. She teamed up with standard black Saint Laurent Paris patent leather classic pumps which feature glossy black patent leather, pointed-toe and 105mm stiletto heel (Fashion Pic). She wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels and her bleached eyebrows had been restored and sported a cropped ’do to maintain a safer statement - Image
She was joined on the red carpet by dad Billy Ray Cyrus.
Cyrus changed into something more,  Miley-esque for her performance the 21-year old hit the stage for a performance of her smash hit ‘Wrecking Ball’ wearing a custom Markus Lupfer ‘meow’ top and high-waisted panties featuring a cat print, which she styled with matching platform shoes, PVC oversized earrings and bracelets - Image

Lady Gaga rocked “country” as she arrived/ galloped onto the carpet on a white horse made out of some men! The 26-year-old “Lady Ga-Godiva”/ “Born This Way” entertainer chatted on the red carpet about her latest and recent Billboard #1 album ARTPOP and being the new face of Versace’s Spring 2014 campaign. The eccentric ‘Applause’ songstress wore a confection from that collection. The lavender cut-out gown, accented with an armor-like harness of chains and charms. Image -  Image - Image - Fashion Pic
