2012 AMA’s Report

Carrie Underwood
As she walked away victorious after her 40th Annual American Music Awards win for "Favorite Album - Country," it marked the “Blown Away” singer's fourth sweep in the category, after SOME HEARTS, CARNIVAL RIDE and PLAY ON previously earned the top honour which means every single one of Underwood’s records has earned her an AMA.

I am very proud of this album,” she said
Giving thanks to her legions of adoring fans she said: “"I'd like to thank God for giving me the love for music and inspiration to make this album and for giving me the most amazing fans in the entire universe that support us each and every night when we're on the road with the 'Blown Away Tour.' I couldn't love my life any more than I do right now." >>  YouTube

On the live show Underwood looking  jaw-dropping-gorgeous donned black leather fingerless gloves, an all-black lacy, frilly ensemble with a full skirt to perform her latest single ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ . She needed fewer visuals than others on the night to spice up her showcase Black Cadillacs performance.

Taylor Swift
She used the 2012 American Music Awards opportunity to debut her new song ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’.
For the first half of the song, Tay performed, on a rather gothic looking stage setting, wearing a pale pink Disney princess-style dress, surrounded by a bunch of dancers cloaked in all black. She pulled off a bit of a fashion and costume magic act to reveal a surprising, out-of-the-box, daring and edgy performance from the normally wholesome country “Begin Again” sweetheart. Changing in the blink-of-an-eye from her poufy pink dress into a red corset and black skirt this matched the dancers’ darker mood as she danced and sang on the stage with strobe lighting.

This tough-looking Taylor is not one we’re acquainted, showing fans an edgy, dark and unexpected side of her. Taylor Swift Live AMA Photo
Swift letting her hair down engaged in a lot of suggestive dancing and sexy choreography with her onstage entourage, and playing a bit of a dominant role, grabbing the male dancers, pulling them to her and bumping up against them in a sultry way.

Taylor had no chance to thank the fans as she headed to her next job. Her hectic schedule meant she skipped the AMA party and headed straight to a video shoot! “Thank you so much for the AMA! You're unreal. I went straight from the awards to a night video shoot. Long day but so worth it,” tweeted Taylor Swift from her official Twitter account on Monday.
It seems Taylor wants to keep her fans happy by debuting new videos for singles from her nearing double Platinum album Red.
Will she get the chance to slow down over Thanksgiving and spend a little time chilling out enjoying her turkey?!

Lady Antebellum
Winning their third-ever American Music Award win a statue for Favorite Country Duo or Group, this was an award they have won before.

The OWN THE NIGHT Trio looked genuinely thrilled to be on the stage accepting the prize and thankful to their loyal fanbase who had took the time out to vote - “We want to dedicate to the over a million fans who came out to see us on the road,” Charles Kelley said, nodding to the band’s massively successful headline run, while Hillary Scott thanked the group’s teams for all the work they do to keep the band machine running. Dave Haywood gave shout outs to their spouses and loved ones.

As presenters, Lady Antebellum were on hand to present an AMA to country buddy Luke Bryan.

Luke Bryan
EMI MUSIC/CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP Luke Bryan beat out Jason Aldean and Eric Church for the prize for Favorite Country Male which was presented to him by label mates Lady Antebellum. He was also nominated for Country album with TAILGATES & TANLINES.
The win was his first AMA win, so a momentous occasion for Bryan. When his name was announced, he stopped to kiss his wife and leapt onto the stage, saying to the crowd, “Wassup!”  While at the mic, he thanked his wife for letting him be a big kid on the road and doing what he loves - make music. It was a funny and fitting acceptance speech, since Bryan’s reaction to winning an AMA was filled with childlike wonder. He had a whole lot of people to thank in a limited minute-long slot and with a rapid-fire memory list he made it

She who was nominated for Female artist, pop/rock lost out to Katy Perry on the night. Although she has “Don’t Rush” out at country radio here she was in Pop-mode hitting the stage, with a nod to her "American Idol" roots with a number on her dress and three judges looking on as she sang "Miss Independent." Then she went into "Since U Been Gone," ''Stronger" and "Catch My Breath."

The red carpet hosts for the 2012 American Music Awards aren't necessarily in top form tonight, but it looks like "The Middle" actress Eden Sher is taking home the award for absolute worst line of questioning for her interview with Taylor Swift. Sher's biggest problem? She didn't ask any questions.
Instead, when Swift came up to talk to Sher and Lance Bass about tonight's awards show, the 20-year-old actress seemingly lost her mind at being in the presence of her "Gift from God" pop music idol.
