Fans of THE HOT COUNTRY Irish programme on Showcase TV kick off their Roadshow concerts kicks on Tuesday (Aug 28) at the Ashdown Park Hotel, in Gorey, Co. Wexford, with Declan Nerney, Derek Ryan, TR Dallas, Trudi Lalor, Pam Jackson and Simon Peters.

Newcomer Amie Stone was a big hit at the recent annual Billy Mac & Friends Mega Concert in Mullingar. Limerick native Amie has been making a big impact on the Irish music scene in recent times, having shot to prominence on the Australian X Factor.
When Amie Stone got up to sing at a small gig in McCarthy’s pub in Westport, little did she know that her performance would result in her supporting Barry Manilow in a Las Vegas show. Amie was performing with her band Sweet Sensation – led by showbiz impresario and musician Desi Egan – in Westport.

By chance American music promoter Colin Lewis, was in the pub and heard Amie play. He was bowled over by her singing and invited herself and the band to go to Las Vegas to do some work at the International Hotel, in the entertainment capital of the world.
After the show, he offered her a special guest spot on the upcoming Barry Manilow Vegas shows – not an offer many artists could refuse.
Amie, who is from Adare, Co Limerick, has been singing since she was six years old. Two years ago she was a finalist in the Australian version of the X-Factor TV show, reaching third place. Amie, who writes most of her own material, also performs some great songs by artists like Adele, Katie Perry, Norah Jones and Diana Ross.
Desi Egan, Amie’s musical director, has played with some of the best-known singers at home and abroad, including Cliff Richard, Roger Whittaker, Ray Lynam, Mike Denver and Paul Brady. He said they were stunned by the offer to go to Stateside.
Sweet Sensation are a new band formed in July 2012. They cover a range of genres and generations as well as an extensive set of originals. www.mayonews.ie

Eric Church got a seal of approval in writing from Bruce Spingsteen. Church, whose most recent #1 song "Springsteen" told Billboard that Bruce's assistant and road manager, Wayne LeBeaux, came to his August concert in New Hampshire with gifts in tow.
The offering was a three hour and 37 minutes set list from one of Springsteen’s recent concerts with a personal note on the back.
Bruce wrote he was a fan of the song, how his family was a fan of the song. He signed it and said, ‘I hope we cross paths somewhere’ and told (LeBeaux), ‘Make sure you deliver this to Eric.’ Church said the note was “pretty incredible” and said it was the first time he had heard from the rock royalty.

The ‘Brothers of the Sun’ Tour, with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, ended its historic run this weekend with two sold-out shows at Foxboro, MA’s Gillette Stadium – a triumphant encore for the biggest stadium tour of the year and the highest-grossing tour of the summer, according to Pollstar. The 111,209 tickets sold for the shows were what Dan Murphy, Gillette Stadium’s Vice President of External Affairs, called “a record for the biggest country music event in New England history.” Touring authorities agree that Chesney and McGraw’s 22-city/23-stadium jaunt ruled the road this summer, with no other tours coming close to the number of stadiums hit by the duo. Fans were also able to enjoy Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, and check out rising star Jake Owen. (Sony Press Release )

Randy Jackson’s probably moving into a mentor role.

The country chair was between Brad Paisley and Keith Urban; however, Paisley was asking for close to $8 million, reportedly what Idol is offering Nicki Minaj. Urban's deal is said to be in the $3 - $4 million range.

Carrie Underwood celebrated her #1 song, “Good Girl,” with a party at the CMA building in Nashville.  Before the party she talked about her upcoming BLOWN AWAY TOUR and how she is just as excited as the fans to see what it’s all going to look like when it’s set up and ready to go.
Carrie has said in the past that the tour would probably involve drama and some big production and she told The Country Vibe -  We definitely tried really hard to just make everything a really great story and there’s a lot of toys to play with.  That’s some great technology out there now and we’re able to utilize that and make a really big show.”
Of course, costume changes will be a big part of Carrie’s show and they’re also what will help keep things fresh for fans who may be planning to see it more than once.   Carrie says the Blown Away Tour will involve “a lot of very dramatic costumes and no two shows will be exactly the same as far as what I wear and when I wear it.  I like to have options.”
Hunter Hayes will open for Carrie on The Blown Away Tour and she says they definitely have plans to sing something together during each show but they haven’t quite worked out the details of that yet.

Reba's Guide to Life: The country music superstar shares the life secrets she learned from her role model and namesake (her grandma, Reba Estelle Brassfield)  at www.guideposts.org

Sometimes people ask me for advice. “Reba, which song should I record?” “How do I get started in the music business?” “Do you think my teenager is ever going to lose that attitude?” (The answer to that last one, by the way, is yes, so hang in there.) If I could summarize my best advice in one word it would be: Listen.
My grandma, my mama’s mother, Reba Estelle Brassfield, taught me a lot about listening. I’m her namesake and I adored her.

Randy Newman’s “Louisiana 1927” is Lyric of the Week at the American Songwriter
Extract: This week marks the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall in the United States. In the aftermath of that tragedy, many songwriters stepped up to try to sum up all of the various emotions that the affected people were feeling. While many did an honorable job, the one song that seemed to be the most on-the-money was one that was written over three decades before.
It wasn’t a case of a songwriter having some case of ESP. “Louisiana 1927” was written by Randy Newman and included on Good Old Boys, his landmark 1974 album. Newman’s source material was the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, which to this day is the most devastating flood to ever hit the US.

Taylor Swift tells Rolling Stone Magazine about “Her Bold New Direction” and how the pop superstar is turning bad romance into chart gold with her latest album, 'Red'
Extract: I went through a few roller coasters," says Taylor Swift, reflecting on her relationships over the past two years. She channeled the turmoil into her fourth studio LP, Red, out October 22nd
Swift joined her writing partners in L.A. and Nashville. "I felt like an apprentice," Swift says. "They taught me so much about melodic sense, and they let me do what I love, which is the lyrics."
The result is Swift's most eclectic set ever, ranging from "State of Grace," a howling, U2-style epic with reverb-drenched guitars, to a sweet acoustic duet with U.K. singer Ed Sheeran. Another key track even features a dubstep-inspired bass breakdown

Jason Aldean in this Billboard 615 Column says the hit "takes some pressure" off his forthcoming album NIGHT TRAIN which comes out Oct. 16 and was produced by his longtime cohort Michael Knox. But Aldean adds that he wasn't necessarily feeling a greater deal of pressure while making the album, even for a task as formidable as following up "My Kinda Party."
Extract: "Honestly, I tried to just not even worry about it," he explains. "To go in with the mindset of trying to top ('My Kinda Party') or make an album that sells more than the last -- you can't really do that. If you start to think that way, you're gonna set yourself up for failure. I'm obviously a lot more confident and more sure of myself than when I started out, and (success) has made me even more confident. So I just went in to make the best record we could, and what happens after is out of your control, so I don't worry too much about it."

Lauren Alaina keeps things simple but effective in new ‘Eighteen Inches’ Lyric Video  >>   YouTube
Lauren Alaina just dropped the simple-but-satisfactory (and effective) lyric video for her new single, the Carrie Underwood co-penned ‘Eighteen Inches.’ The teen’s pretty voice leads the lyrics as they unfold on screen in lean, clean, capital letters.
Since the song appears on the ‘Idol’ runner-up’s debut album, ‘Wildflower,’ it’s appropriate that flowers burst at the end of the ‘Eighteen Inches’ lyric video.
As far as man-made clips go, this one is quite tranquil. The visuals won’t even come anywhere close to blowing you away, but perhaps that’s the point. Since the words are so weighty and the song’s lyrics message is poignant, they need to be the focus, as opposed to excessive visual bells and whistles which might distract from the point it’s trying to make.

Casey James isn’t just singing in his new video for “Crying On A Suitcase.” He’s also showing off his acting skills! Filmed in Nashville, Casey takes on the dramatic role of a man desperate to save his relationship in the emotionally-charged video.
This is the first opportunity I’ve had to ‘play a character’ in a video,” Casey said. “My focus is always the music, but it was a lot of fun working outside my comfort zone. I wanted to make sure that the small amount of acting would be believable, and I feel like it is. I’m very proud of the video, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”  >>   YouTube

Born and raised in Grafton, West Virginia, Little General Records sibling trio Taylor Made released their first ever music video featuring their current single, “Things You Don’t Grow Out Of”. The video officially released Thursday, August 23rd to networks, blogs, and radio amidst a nationwide radio tour to promote the single, which is currently #48 on the Billboard Indicator chart and #35 on the Music Row chart.
Although this is our third official release with Little General Record, this was our first opportunity to make a video,” said Greg Duckworth, member of Taylor Made and lead vocals on the single. “Given the strength of the song’s message, we felt a video would only help drive that message home. We couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out." ( Source - Nashville Music Media Press)

COUNTRY GOSSIP
Taylor Swift is so smitten with Conor Kennedy that, after leaving him in Massachusetts to head back to Nashville, she missed him so desperately she sent a jet to pick him up from the Kennedy home.
Sources exclusively told the New York Post Page Six that country superstar Swift left the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port alone just over a week ago to go to Nashville to work and promote her new single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
But one source said, “Taylor missed Conor so much, she sent a plane for him a few days later. He’s been with her ever since, and his family doesn’t know when he will be back. Things have become so serious between them so fast that no one in Hyannis Port would be surprised if they eloped.”
Tay and Conor

A Kennedy source told Page Six that despite their still-brief romance, which they say started in July, Swift seems “totally in love with Conor. They are inseparable and are all over each other all the time”. Another source added to the New York Post newspaper: "She always falls very hard and becomes very intense very quickly, and this time is no exception. In fact she seems to have fallen even harder.
"While his relatives really like Taylor, some feel their lovey-dovey behavior is cute while it has made others in the family feel a little uncomfortable.

Randy Travis is in the news again ! This time, a Chevrolet truck registered to Travis was found tipped over, wrecked and abandoned in a field behind a Walmart in Frisco, Texas  (Photo). The singer's lawyer, Larry Friedman, says Travis was not driving the vehicle nor was he responsible for its condition. According to the Dallas Morning News, on Saturday evening (Aug. 25), local police were investigating just how the truck ended up in the field. They’d yet to make contact with Travis as of press time. While Friedman was not aware of exactly who left the truck in its current state, he is sure it wasn’t Travis. A ranch hand had apparently been using the vehicle recently. “He hasn’t been in that truck or seen that truck in about three months,” Friedman said of Travis. “This has nothing to do with Randy whatsoever.”  (Dallas News)

A woman being sued by LeAnn Rimes plans to take her own legal action against the singer.
The 30-year-old star - who checked into a rehab facility to receive treatment for stress and anxiety earlier this week - is suing teacher Kimberly Smiley for invasion of privacy and accused her of bullying her on twitter, but the Californian mother-of-four insists she hasn't done anything wrong and needs to "stand up" to the 'How Do I Live?' hitmaker.
Kimberly said:
"I plan to take my own action against her. This could impact my family and business. Somebody needs to stand up or LeAnn will continue doing this for the rest of her life."I have a right to my opinion. I have never bullied her. She blocked me on Twitter and then I took my account private, so how can I bully her if I'm blocked and have a private account? It makes no sense.
"People who don't like her have a right to their opinion. She's a public figure. But I have never bullied her.

One of her people said I was sending derogatory tweets to her for years. That's false."
Kimberly's daughter Lexi, 19, was also named in the lawsuit and is devastated by the action.
Kimberly added to RadarOnline.com: "My daughter was in tears over the lawsuit. This could affect her future employment."
LeAnn is suing Kimberly and Lexi because she claims a call she made to discuss the alleged comments on twitter was recorded and made public.
According to Kimberly, the singer called her "rude" and "berated" her on the phone.
